Matthew 6: 28-33, Lilies Bible Verse, Abundance through Alignment, Action vs. Alignment, Law of Attraction in the Bible

“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable then they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?” (Matt. 6: 26-27)
I remember reading a news story several years ago about two parents that were arrested for neglecting their children. They were all found starving, while their parents used this verse for their defense. They said they kept waiting for God to provide for them and He never did. I remember my reaction to that line of reasoning was complete shock. I was angry with the Church for teaching so many of us to believe in the Bible in such a blind, literal way. This kind of dogmatic teaching has caused so much misunderstanding and harm. Even wars are fought in defense of the dogmatic teachings of so many religions. Later I began to see the messages behind the literal words of the metaphors.
When we remember Jesus spoke in metaphor so people could understand the absolute ways of our God-Source, the true meaning of this beautiful teaching begins to ring true. This verse teaches us that the way of abundant life is not found through the journey of action. It is found through the journey of alignment, which is the faith, the knowing that well-being is our birthright and runs in our veins. It is our alignment with God-Source that allows all we need to flow to us.
The metaphor of the birds is used because Jesus was well aware that the animals of our planet have not forgotten their connection to our Universal God-Source Creator and so they live their lives beautifully adorned in colorful feathers, never worrying about a roof over their heads, what they will eat next or where it will come from. This kind of life is hard for us to imagine, because we, in our physical forms have forgotten where we came from. As we begin to remember our connection to our life-giving God-Source, we become less attached to seeing physical evidence of well-being. We begin to intuitively know that everything we have asked for has already been given and we only need to stop our resistance to the flow of abundant life.
“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?” (Matt. 6: 28-30)
The problem is that we humans believe we must toil and strain to achieve the things we need to care for ourselves. But as you read the words of Jesus he chastises us for being of little faith. However, Jesus is not talking about the blind faith of believing in something you have been taught you should believe in. That kind of faith leads to starvation both physically and spiritually. The kind of faith Jesus talks about here is that of unwavering trust, in the belief that well-being is at the core of our existence, in the knowing that our God-Source Creator has already taken care of our needs (Ask and it is given). So our only job is to learn to see people and things through the eyes of God-Source. When we can do that, we will be in vibrational alignment with God-Source and all good things will flow to us.
“So do not worry, saying ‘What shall we eat?’ or What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given unto you as well.” (Matt. 6: 31-33)
And here is the confirmation we need. This verse reiterates that if we worry about what we need, we send out the vibration of lack and lack is what we attract. However, if we seek first His Kingdom, our connection to our God-Source that already resides within us, all we could ever want or need, will be ours. We attain this alignment by letting go of our resistance, letting go of anxiety about abundance and abundant life will be yours. If you can make the best of your current circumstances and find thoughts that feel a little better about what you are currently experiencing, you are well on your way to turning resistance into alignment.

Very enlightening….. I have a few thoughts regarding the passages presented. First in Matthew 6:26-27, I have the *same* reaction as you did to regarding the parents who neglected themselves and their children. Matthew said, “Look at the birds of the air…” Well, how did they get in the air? They had to actively flap their wings and fly. So even a *literal* transalation will find those parents extremely misguided. Birds know they must learn to fly to find food and build nests. They don’t worry….thats just part of their life. And they have faith that the food and nests will be provided undeniably along with their action. So bird after bird builds nest after nest….without bird worry :) . Human beings overcomplicate matters by *worrying* about tomorrow, or mistakes they made in the past. This leads the LAw of Attraction to bring more of exactly what they DON’T want…..which leads to more intense worrying, etc. Its really very simple, start today and do the best (and expect the best) with what you have at your disposal. Have faith that the Universe (God) will provide everything you need on your journey (you have to know what you want). And make each day a successful day to the best of your ability. When you do that and believe in God, there is nothing to *worry* about.
